Ever wonder what a paper cup is made of? It’s made of paper! Definitely not the kind you wrote or drew on. It is a unique type of paper that comes from wood or old used paper. This particular paper is created to create beverage holding cups.
Making the Paper
The manufacturing of paper cups starts with producing the paper. To create this paper, they used an assortment of wood chips or old pieces of paper that people no longer wanted. Is a combination of these materials, mixed with water and some special chemicals to obtain what is known as pulp. Pulp is the goo that will eventually dry and become into paper.
The Manufacturing Process
When your pulp mixture is ready, process it through to step 4-1: create some actual paper! This is spread wide on a very long machine called the paper machine. These sheets of pulp are then broken down into small fiber materials and put into a machine with water and rollers to flatten it out before being dried. When that pulp dries, it turns into the sturdy paper we use to craft cups.
Once those large sheets of paper are produced they go onto another machine. The sheets are then cut into sizes suitable to use in the paper cup making machine with this cutting die machine. And the sizes are such that each type of glass should be able to hold its volume correctly.
Making Paper Cups
With a paper that is all prepped up and cut to the right size, it has now come time for us to start creating cups! Paper is fed to a unique machine which known as a paper cup making machine. The beauty of this machine is that it's so quick, you can whiz through a tonne of cups in just 1 min!
The thing is, the machine creates a cup from paper. Then, it seals the edges with heat. It is done since this helps the cup to not break apart. There is also a tight seal on the bottom to keep any beverage from leaking out. Now you can fill up your cup with whatever beverage makes YOU feel the most happy without spillage creeping its way into your happiness fest.
Quality Check
Of course, the paper cups need to be well made and of decent quality. Hot drinks like cocoa will not do best when this happens, and nobody wants to drink from an unreliable broken or leaking cup! The cups are all tested for maximum strength and reliability. These tests are for the cup to carry hot/cold beverage without leaking. They also do a bit of research to ensure the cup can actually be picked up and won't crush.
Getting Ready to Ship
Once the paper cups are manufactured and have passed all necessary quality checks, they can be stamped with a business logo or designer pattern then shipped to shops and businesses across the globe. Packaging is the process of putting it in boxes, and so forth with cups. These boxes are loaded on pallets for easy transportation to the various locations. Kyleigh Each box is labeled with how many cups and the date constructed.
There you have it - that is how paper cups are created. So, it gets your curious mind to wonder about all the effort and care that goes into making an elementary paper cup. The next time you buy a cup of coffee or are served with something to drink in a restaurant, please remember the logistics which that glass/cup went through from raw materials stage up till holding finished product.
