paper cup material used

More than just the uniquebiome of the land, global heat is doing damage too that people across the globe arelearning to understand, environmental awareness is spreading. Increasingly, people and companies want to take steps to help keep our planet clean and safe. This is why many businesses like us are working hard to incorporate sustainable materials into our products. This means we want to select materials that are beneficial, and not harmful, to the Earth.

Do you remember a previous version of paper cups that used to come with a plastic liner inside? The lining kept the cups from getting soggy and leaking when we poured hot or cold drinks in them. But this plastic is not eco-friendly as it does not decompose easily. Instead, it contributes to plastic waste that accumulates in landfills and the oceans, polluting the environment and harming marine animals.

The Evolution of Cup Materials

SHI RONG PAPER has begun using compostable and biodegradable materials to help address this challenge. In other words, these materials can decompose naturally over time, leaving no toxic residue in our ecosystem. Examples of such eco-friendly materials are PLA (polylactic acid)—which is derived from cornstarch—and natural fibers such as sugarcane or bamboo. Their materials are not only good for the planet, but also keep your beverages under control!

In the 1950s, cup manufacturers realized that adding a wax barrier would make the cups leak-free. But it also created a new problem because those wax-coated cups were difficult to recycle and not environmentally friendly. Then in the 1990s the manufacturers tried a plastic coating, instead of wax. Unfortunately, this only contributed to the plastic waste problem we still have over a half-century later.
